Information Collection & Use
Securita collects personally identifiable information from our users at several different points on our Site. For example, we collect and/or request information when a user places an order; registers on the securitaonline.wpengine.com Site; requests notification of an order status; or submits an e-mail.
In order to fulfill the requests of Site users in the above instances, the user may be requested to provide contact information, including the user’s name, address, email address, and telephone number, fax number as well as the user’s credit card information We use this information for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we will use this personal information to contact you and complete your order.
Securita also uses personal information to better understand your needs and interests and to provide you with better service.
We will not share our personal information with third parties, except in the specific cases listed in this Privacy Statement. Securita does not sell, rent or lease your personal information to others.
Securita may use third parties to provide shipping services, fulfill orders or process credit cards. We will share personal information with these third party companies only to the extent that is necessary for such third party to provide these services.
Newsletters, Special Offers, Account Updates and Opting Out
Securita will occasionally send to customers or users of this Site, letters or announcements, which contain important information about the Site and service offerings which we believe to be of value to you. In order to do this, we may enhance or merge the information we collect on the Site with data we receive from third parties for purposes of marketing our products or services.
We may communicate with you and the other users of this Site via e-mail, telephone, mail, or fax in order to provide requested services, content, product information, notification of special offers, or in regard to customer service issues relating to an account. You will always given the opportunity to “opt-out” of having your online information used for purposes not directly related to the Site at the point at which we ask for the information or when you receive an online requested newsletter or promotional communication.
For example, our e-mail messages have an “unsubscribe” feature for users of the Site who buy from us, but don’t want to be notified about special offers in the future. Users can simply “Reply” back to the email message and type “unsubscribe” in the subject field. Upon receipt of the reply, we will remove that e-mail address from our e-mail list.
We may communicate with you in response to your inquiries, to provide the services you request, and to manage your account. We will communicate with you by email or telephone, in accordance with your wishes.
As is true of most Web sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and click stream data.
We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the site, to track users’ movements around the site and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We do not link this automatically-collected data to personally identifiable information.
Securita uses, a third party provider (“Provider”) for the shopping cart functions of its website. Provider uses browser “cookies” for customer sessions. A cookie is a small file stored by the browser which can only be read by the same server that set the cookie. Provider does not store any sensitive information, such as credit card numbers or passwords, within the cookies it uses.
- When Provider creates a shopping cart for a customer, it will set a cookie to associate the customer with a particular shopping cart. There are several different situations, in addition to adding products to a cart, that will cause a shopping cart to be created, including registered customer log-in, or coming to the store from an associate link. If the customer has cookies disabled, the shopping cart will be linked to the customer’s IP address.
- If a registered customer logs in, a cookie is created that tells Provider which customer is logged in. This cookie is a “session” cookie, which means it will expire as soon as the customer closes their browser, or does not do anything on the store Website for an extended period of time, or if the customer completes an order.
- When a customer selects tax, shipping, or payment method options, and then clicks on Checkout on the main shopping cart screen, these selections are stored in a cookie. This cookie allows Provider to “remember” the customer’s selections if the customer returns to the store to place another order. The cookie will expire one year from the date it was created. If the customer’s browser does not allow cookies, the “memory” feature will not be available.
- When a customer enters their shipping and billing information on the Billing screen and clicks Submit This Order to complete the order, Provider sets another cookie. This cookie contains the billing address (and the shipping address if a separate one is used) that the customer used. It does not contain any credit card information. This cookie is set to expire one year from the date it was created. If the customer returns to the store from the same computer within this time, Provider will detect and read the cookie and the customer will not have to re-enter the address information. If cookies are disabled in a customer’s browser, this “memory” feature will not be available to that customer.
Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs)
Securita may employ a software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons/Web Bugs), that help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective.
Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. Securita does not tie the information gathered by clear gifs to our customers’ personally identifiable information.
Securita may use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. If you would like to opt-out of these emails, please see “Choice and Opt-out.”

Access to Personally Identifiable Information

The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card number) on our order forms, PayPal, our payment service provider encrypts that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). Once your information reaches PayPal it resides on a server that is heavily guarded both physically and electronically. PayPal servers sit behind an electronic firewall and are not directly connected to the internet, so your private information is available only to authorized computers.
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
